Breaking the ice, and starting to catch up...

Ok, so I made this blog to keep track of all my artistic happennings as they happen. However, there are quite a few pieces that I've made over the years already, so I will likely post bits about them first until eventually I catch up to the present.

I'll start out with a music video that I made about a year ago for a songwriting contest offered cooperatively by Musician's Friend and the John Lennon Songwriting Contest. I made it to the Top 25, where my submission was reviewed by the likes of Natasha Beddingfield, Kevin Bacon, and several other established musicians. I was not selected as a finalist, however. Anyway, here's the video:

I made the video entirely by myself (although my friend Lucas helped me with the song), and it was mostly shot either in my backyard or in my house. The song itself is a bit cloudy in its meaning, so I attempted to create the same feeling with the video. The chorus repeats the line "I know what I really want," yet, I never say what it is I actually want. The video also ended up turning out to have an open ending and indecisive mood to it, so I was quite pleased with that aspect of it.

Also, I'd love to hear what other people have to say about it, so please feel free to give me feedback. Just keep in mind that I recorded this song and shot the video as a freshman in college with absolutely no prior experience in either field. =)

Thanks for taking a second to check this out!
